Beady Eye BE Instore Signing 11.06.13
Firstly this is quite late because the event itself for me personally was an absolute disaster, more on that later, the event itself started gaining momentum from noon with a handful of people queuing all around the building,by 3.30pm it was like a scene from 28 days later people running from everywhere with everything from guitars to poster's to the latest copy of BE Beady Eye's new album, Liam Gallagher's band has a mass following of all ages today, it makes headline news on ITV North West News which I again for who knows why graced my presence on the cameras.
There was an excitement and mania in the air and to start with the atmosphere for me was great I wanted to get a pic of me with Liam himself as I have met him now 3 times and he never notices me amongst the male fans scrambling to be shoulder to shoulder with him in their Pretty Green Gear Liam ..an idol of a generation perhaps more imfamous for his attitude and swagger and headlines of his continuing bust ups with his older brother Noel.
The doors were due to open 4.30pm for people to go inside we all had to have a copy of the new album BE and there was to be under no circumstances any photos or videos it was well planned with posters up detailing this and we were told our possessions will be taken if we went on the stage with cameras, ipads etc.. so we were told to zip away.
The album plays in the background and the band take to their chairs, firstly in order in the seats L-R was Chris,Gem,Andy and Liam on the end seat, I had agreed to help a fan get a sleeve signed as he had already a lot of stuff to ask the band to sign for ,we were only supposed to take one item up with us.. remember this.
Anyway I had a CD 1 item ,and because earlier on an album sleeve was on the table that was used by the PR crew of this fan's I had thought obviously that it was there still the event was buzzing and I was poised waiting yet again to meet Liam Gallagher, once on the stage we moved along quite quickly I got a hello in to Chris and Gem recognised me from a previous appearance he said he liked my t-shirt, I said cheers great to meet you again an then Andy Bell (Ride,Oasis) the quiet one didn't say much, my CD is in my sight all the time and as this happens other people are putting things on the table.
I get to 'Liam' as he signs my CD I say "I believe I can't have my photo taken today but I never get the chance while your fans push me out the way ,so I wondered if I could have my pic taken after the event with you" he replied "Well we gotta keep the queue movin don't we" nodding his head not at all fazed still looking at me I said "should I wait after the signing is finished for a chance to pose for a pic?" he looked me cooly and said "We'll see yeah" and carried on signing ,at which I picked my Cd up and the fans inner vinyl and security wrongly yes wrongly passed me a record sleeve which initially I thought belonged to the fan who I did the favour for I did not want to leave any of his stuff behind he is Liams biggest fan ever I mean Ever.!! I don't want to let him down right.
It turned out that there was vinyl in the sleeve and it belonged to a young kid behind us well long story short had to try and reunite it with him after giving it to Liam's Biggest fan, he had not noticed he had a extra vinyl ,anyway long story short I got no thanks from the kid for arranging with the other fan to reunite him with his signed album (saving grace in this was we all had each others contact info luckily or not maybe not for all the shit I had to put up with ) and the lot of the kids turned nasty on me for mistakenly picking up the item that remember this Security man handed it to me as I left the stage.
So as we speak tonight Beady Eye are onstage in Manchester and I am not there because I want nothing to do with fans that can not see a mistake and accuse before asking first what had happened, so as Liam would probably do. ...a two finger salute to all non believers who don't know me!! and folks anyone thinking asking me to help get something signed ,talk to someone for them, get them in a after-party with me in fact anything the answer is NO.
