All Saints Manchester Academy December 8th 2018

All Saints

Manchester Academy

8th December 2018

Tonight I'm about to witness a 90's girlband  with Sass, Style and Pizazz !!

No it's not the 'Spice Girls' compared to these 4 ladies they had neither in my opinion, yes I'm here to see 'All Saints' they've just released a brand new album 'Testament' and this is their special Pre- Christmas show.

The 4 mics on stage are set ready and the lights dim down  to the  screams of the crowd, The sign hanging atop the back drop kicks into life lighting up,The backing band including a drummer in front of me stage left walk on to the stage ready to play, as an intro of  a spoken recording booms out of the speaker.

As the girls take to each of their mics wearing casual but funky 'Evening' outfits mainly silver and black with and chic look, 'Shaznay' takes the mic welcoming us to the show followed by Natalie, Nicole, and Melanie in front of me beginning with 'Bootie Call' they dance and sing their way through it the audience go wild .

They seem impressed by the turnout tonight perhaps its the unique 'Manchester' welcome , they take it in turns to chat with us and play new song 'One Strike' and the smash hit "I Know Where It's At",I'm amongst Vip fans on the front row and Nicole is smiling and waving at us and blowing kisses ...Um Thanks.

They are still great dancers as 'Rock Steady' proves and no reunion show would be complete without a medley which contained mainly older fan favs and 'Under The Bridge' I would of enjoyed 'Lady Marmalade' better that's my fav cover but it didn't materialise.

'Natalie' is the fairly shy member when it comes to speaking with the crowd but she engages with us, before they play another smash 'Black Coffee' it sits perfectly well with new song 'Glorious' great lyrics "Glorious we will always be victorious" (Uprising 2 it aint but a catchy empowering chorus) the crowd joining in singing the words.

'Nicole' introduces the next song from 'The Beach' in '2000' the original soundtrack tune 'Pure Shores' produced by 'William Orbit' this was a UK No1, and was heavily influenced by his work on 'Madonna's 'Ray Of Light' album 2 years previously.

Almost encore time and 'Love Lasts Forever' a track from the new album and a classic way to finish with the 1997 ballad 'Never Ever' , then curtain down it was great fun and  a great girlie night out for a change as I don't have these often ,it was nice to kick back and reminice the 90's life the real #GirlPower !!
