Madonna - Rebel Heart Tour London/Manchester/Birmingham/Glasgow UK Tour Report ft December 2,14,16,20

Madonna Rebel Heart Tour December 2015

 UK Tour Report

London, Manchester,Birmingham and Glasgow

I arrive in 'Greenwich' South East London later than predicted Hot and Bothered as my cab driver couldn't find where my hotel was such a nightmare!!

I have 2 hours to get ready for tonight's show 'Madonna's second night residency in 'O2 Arena', I unpack my outfit I'm going 'Matador' with a Bolero Jacket and specially made Bolero style pedal pushers (trousers cut to the knee) and a basque that is in competition with me to come off than stay on Grr!!!

I arrive to find my seat in Block A3 alongside the Cross section of her specially designed catwalk, OH WOW!!  it feels surreal like a dream I had no idea where about I'd be seated I was right there, Warming up for us was Ministry of Sound resident DJ Mary Mac, she plays a heady mix of  nightclub style Dance Beats, and wears a luminous dayglo jacket and sparkly earphones "Whats Up London !! Are You Ready To See The Queen!!??London !!!" The atmosphere is #Buzzin' Tonights show is Sold Out The Venue Is Huge !!

After An Hour 8.45pm the lights go out again, screams of excitement go up , Madonna has the power to make you feel Great Trepidation and Great Excitement...

Part 1-Act 1

The screen situated centre stage moves ,in fact tilts toward us and a film of 'M as Marilyn she wears that tight 'iconic' glittery dress from the 90's she speaks over the film making fun of her celebrity status "Come Shake your Ass Baby..." with an appearance of 'Mike Tyson' who speaks, its the 2 comparisions of celebrity that are the same 'The Battle Begins!!!' "Are You With ME" she says ...Yes ! yell back the crowd the masses are here to see her .

Up In the air in front of us a gated vessel in the form of a drawbridge descends in lift like motion and in front of us 'Iconic' begins, her male dancers are all dressed as 'Gengis Khan's Army March down to each corner of the catwalk three alongside me right next to me all with medival helmets, historical outfits, and large Gold staffs with Crosses on them holding them out in dramatic fashion, cage is open with M' in a Red Robe like 'Japanese' style warrior but with with a twist on 'Game of Thrones',she walks towards her carefully choregraphed dancers grabs a staff from one and she jousts down the runway to be picked up and tipped upside down over the staffs wow its dramatic !! crowd go crazy ,her hair looks fabulous long Blonde with subtle kinks to it a la 'Ray Of Light' era.

Then its the turn of her female danceers waiting main stage 'M' takes off the Red Robe a la quick change revealing a Black Coat  and Red Geisha style look with 'Bitch I'm Madonna' and M' dancing using large Japanese Red folding fans and darting around the main stage, she sashays about this was single no3 from 'Rebel Heart' it was never released commercially in the UK.

Then She goes all out rock for 'Burning Up' with a flying V guitar, she works her way forward after taking off another robe set, to reveal Black delicate sheer style skirt and Black matching long sleeved sheer outfit with White Crocheted style Ruffle she looks like a resistant nun, she plays with conviction and prowess as the crowd go wild for her!!! and she hasn't even got to me yet oh boy , oh gosh I'm nervous in the presence of royalty !!

Speaking of Nuns she marches up the catwalk with her female dancers dressed as nuns in pointy bras and habits for 'Holy Water' long poles are erected along the points of the catwalk one pole a bit too close to where I'm standing ,at this point I'm having an out of body experience, shes right in front of me climbing up the pole twisting around swishing her hair as she goes, I'm completely off guard didn't know what to do first Photograph her or wave hello, so from that point on temporily it was a bit of a blur 1st time seeing the show you don't know where to look first so much is going on, she certainly entertained us all with her wit and charm, I remember her saying during  'Garage' themed section of 'Deeper & Deeper' , "Are You Tired London ? Are You Tired Wake The Fxxk up" you have to understand her sense of irony or you'd be offended by what she says, shes hilarious .

Part 2-Act 2

The next amazing highlight was 'Like A Virgin' Disco Diva In Suit section, when she walks off  over to a circular fan just to left of me under my nose, she drops to her knees (She did the knee drop in front of me on Like A Prayer in Hyde Park 2012  and I could'nt breathe) she pulls open her shirt showing off a tight vest and rolls her head back like lioness swishing around talk about invading my space but oh no shes welcome ha !! the show is super energetic.

Part 3-  Act 3

Later on in the show she plays a surprise song 'Drowned World' its hard to imagine she is the singer of all these songs I know and grew up , and with its overwhelming to hear them she introduces the song by telling us about a friend called 'David' who wrote the lyrics to it "A lot of people don't know this but he wrote this song he lived in London he died ,so as a tribute to him I'm going to sing it" the song has never been sung since the tour 'Drowned World' in 2001,Another nice Surprise was a 80's Medley of 'Lucky Star,Dress You Up,  and later another surprise of 'Whos That Girl' no1 in uk in 1987 never played since tour 'Whos That Girl' in 1987 she is surpassing the last tour MDNA over and over with the setlist and the imagination of the themes its an assault on the senses she played for 2 a half hours and it seemed like her longest show I didn't want it to end.

I noticed she had a playful softer more human side in this tour she really cares about people and it was nice to see her , relaxed having fun.

Part 4- Act 4

She ended tonights show with 'Holiday' in Independance day Jacket Red Top Hat and union jack flag draped around her shoulders  she dances around the place with all her dancer troupe in  goofy party gear kinda like an office party very funny, she gets airlifted at the end with wires over the tilting screen with immortal words of 'Bye Bitches on the screens to end "Goodnight London You Have been Wonderful" in her sweet 'Marilyn' Like accent .

Part 5

Manchester Arena 12 days on and I'm again gobsmacked at my seat location this time front row of the front of left cross side, important as she faces this way much of the time she plays across it I'm giddy with excitement all I can say tonight Is "Oh My God!!" gosh this is going to be special Isn't it ???  It's  9.15pm  she's not on yet, 9.30pm no sign of her oh shit its 10pm No sign of 'Michael Jackson's Wanna Be Starting Something" that heralds the 'Queen' in fact no life on stage at all lights are still on, oh no I can feel it in my bones something is wrong.  The crowd are begininng to tire, all around me women are drunk atmosphere is crazy, security giving out orders.

10.15pm lights finally go down Oh Thank God, but the show is stated to be finished at 11.30pm that is not long , show finally on track shes again centre cross singing 'Burning Up' I'm dancing about and singing she smiles over at me I'm dressed up again but in a different theme I wont go on.. 'Holy Water' is ever more amazing as much the time she's facing me as shes dancing around the poles with with the nuns its like a dream.. (No End And No Begininng lol), and during 'Vogue' I get more eye contact with her that I shun cameras for this show I've got her attention and shes always had mine woah this is closest to meeting her I'll ever get.

She looks ethereal her wavy hair long to her waist, standing on the female dancer crouching on her twisting around in this scene across the internet on this tour as one of the most spectacular, we still have no idea about the delay  so onto next song 'Devil Pray' with a 'Last Supper' segment on the show, she drinks from a gold goblet, she feeds her dancers grapes and lies on her back her wrists tied in red ropes, she tilts her head back and then walks toward the heartstage and disappears down the lift as lights go down on Act 1 of the show.

Security are already being a bit too strict over what fans can and cant do spoiling our fun even I'm told that I'm not to push on the barrier (I'm not, whos going to push me I'm in seated areas, stress) oh no I'm being told not to dance too far from my area in the aisles in case people push forward I don't think they even know  what they are saying people are not happy).

Part 6

What I do know is that M' wont be happy if if her fans cant dance and be happy with her shes likes to connect with them. she reappears on stage for 'Body Shop' sitting down looking a bit uneasy not relaxed she yells "Manchester are you Bitches in my gang !! Anyone who is not happy I am late can just not come to my show Ok!!, We had no video, we rebooted the disc but it was corrupted so we could not start the show without it, it was fortunate that the company was here in 'Manchester', she goes on "It was No Diva Bitch Moment OK!! I was not backstage filing my nails, eating chocolate and getting my hair extensions done (some fans boo her from top teir).. 'You Diva Bitches can Shut The Fxxk up' (Crowd Cheers her and applauds)

She takes a sip of water and then notices a Huge gap  in Block B ahead of her she says "Manchester what's with all this space?? I didn't ask for a parking lot at my show, you need to speak to your local Mayor of Manchester about this !!" she sang 'True Blue' playing the Ukelele I start swaying along with my row enjoying the atmosphere.

She then plays a few songs by the staircase at the heart stage she climbs up it and sings 'HeartBreak City' and 'Love Don't Live Here Anymore' at which point the crowd at the heartstage appear to know something I don't back here at the cross shes apparently injured herself she banged her head, she carries on  with the show regardless but as she sees her fans getting pushed around she asks one fan to come closer he's in a nuns habit security push him back over to his seat she sees red commenting about 'You guys in the Yellow Jackets you are here so they can have a good time, stop pushing around" shes not happy at all.

As 'Living For Love' comes on she begins by walking down the runway with the Long Black Velvet cape and removes it when atop the main stage podium no problem and the crowd cheer again , onto 'La isla Bonita' all the while I've still no idea shes hurt, as she sings 'Rebel Heart' at the heart stage we also get a speech about what its like to be a Rebel Heart "Rebel Heart's don't bow down to fear, Rebel Hearts bow down To Love Are you a Rebel Heart raise your hand" all the while she apparently looked pained and we got an acoustic of 'Open Your Heart'  as she cut the Gypsy section and people noticed already whoops.

Part 7

Onto the 20's themed Charlie Chaplin Great Gatsby section and she plays 'Music and onto 'Candy Shop' shes in front of me again her hair tied back she looks fine not troubled, one fan lunges and she frowns but presses on with 'Material Girl' on the platforms and then the Bouquet bit she walks down in a veil and throws the flowers into the crowd to her right then the strangest thing she goes down the lift and the lights come on 'Thank you Manchester Goodnight ".

Even I'm shocked at how many songs she cut but we were really lucky to get any show awful bad luck and fans are kicking off shouting is that it wheres the medley, wheres this wheres that I want my money back ,and some going on about how am I going to get home now its 11.45pm , not being funny but people should make arrangements she's known for running over her schedule but time was against her tonight bad luck running well over UK Curfews I hope it doesn't put her off coming to 'Manchester' again though I've never seen people turn on their idol like that you should accept things for what they are better that she put a show on than cancel it.

Part 8

Next Day papers scream out ''Madonna calls Manchester fans Diva Bitches after late start to show" as usual not all the facts stated, The next Day M' issues a statement saying  'It helps to have the facts first , 75% percent of the show relies on the video, do you want us to play in the dark, the venue was kind enough to let us us play on another  40 Mins, we Did what we could we had to make some cuts to the setlist, but it was  3 songs you only missed 12 minutes".

Part 9

Show 3 Birmingham I had a slight change of seating I've now been upgraded to Block B but I'm a few seats away from the runway on the left, I'm now behind the cross but on front on it watching a back view not good she doesn't often look over but hey that's the way it is, her energy tonight is more positive the crowds energy also great tonight, she speaks "Birmingham are you guys gonna be offended if I call you 'Bitches' (No!! we all yell) Ok then" she sings a  made up song "Are you Bitches In My Gang Are you Bitches In My Gang " crowd go mad its an electrifying atmosphere different to that of 'Manchester' puts my city to shame now.

The only thing spoiling my experience is 3 people with I -phones filming instead of watching and dancing to the show, she didn't play 'Who's that Girl'  tonight but in the 20's theme again she plays 'La Vie En Rose' where she exclaims "I Don't Smoke but I Like To Start Fires" she does the whole 'Marilyn thing with a line from 'Diamonds Are A Girls' best friend, then we get our 'Unapologetic Bitch' and tonight its 'Rocco's Best Friend Jamie he knows what moves to do so I knew she knew him, in London it was 'Stella MCartney'.

 Part 10

Final Show 'Glasgow'  and its a small capacity arena I'm at side of the end of the heartstage (I Think I've Covered every angle on this tour lol), Mary Mac stopped her set as not enough people were  in yet which looks set to delay us again, 9.30pm I'm holding my breath again as Nomads Devotion blasts out and then finally MJ intro on lights go down, 3 fans in front of me stand on their seats  I see red "Get Down" they turn around "But I cant see " I retort "Neither can I now you can't do that, get down I paid a lot see this".

During Heartbreak City I can see her close again and I shout out so she can see me she cant too many people alongside me but nevermind, she doesnt stay down the heartstage too long each set until the end so in way unless she notices you its mainly happening on the mainstage and cross section, she sings 'Who That Girl' and we even get a special treat 'Ghost Town' its just been nominated  by 'Rolling Stone' it was the only time she played it on the tour for the UK.

'Glasgow' had its own 'Unapologetic Bitch' in the shape of a guy called 'Jimmy' from Edinburgh in a kilt he flashed is bum and M' made a joke, he put the banana she gave him up his kilt it was funny, she she said "I happen to know that God has blessed Jimmy in that department too ", and then the 'Bye Bitches' sign came up the lights back on and I said to the person next to me that's it, its been delayed they cut the last song.

Then the most bizarre thing happened M's Dancers were  back on stage light still switched on and she was on stage they did the whole 'Holiday' routine with no power /sound WE all sung it for her and the she blew kisses and waved doning a fluffy Santa hat , What an awesome gesture the venue wouldn't let her finish 1 song so she didn't want to disappoint us she does care about us getting a full show.

What an Amazing Show What an Amazing Woman and What a superb time I've had all the friends I've met I'll be sorry it's all over now , but that was the Best Madonna Experience Ever !!!

BYE Bitches Merry Xmas & Happy New Year HAHAHA

Duran Duran Paper Gods Tour Nov/Dec 2015 Manchester/ Liverpool - Seal Supporting

Duran Duran Paper Gods /Seal supporting

 2015 Manchester/ Liverpool

U.K. Tour Report

It's been 4 years since I last went to see these guys it's taken a while to bear fruit to album 'Paper God's but I'm here in Manchester and I'm watching from a few rows back to report on the shows.

Support tonight is from 'The Bloom Sisters' 2 girls and a drummer they are apparently 'Ukranian' they clearly have an 'Electro Agenda' looking slightly gothic in Red Leather and dark hair the two girls are not particulary talkative, playing a barely recognisible cover of 'Beyoncé 'Crazy In Love', there appear to be technical problems but the crowd warmly appreciative of them shall we say but we all know who we are here to see !!

The crowd screams as the first bars of title track 'Paper Gods' is the first track to start their  set a brave move but affordable as its actually even better when played live, tonight I'm on the right of the stage in my eyeline is 'Dom Brown' and maverick keyboard Svengali 'Nick Rhodes', Dom replaces 'Andy Taylor' who left after 'Astronaut Tour' in 2005.

Simon is wearing his White Jeans, Black & White biker jacket (he loves White Jeans), what is an iconic sight on 'Simon' tonight is the 'Vampire Teeth' tshirt he chooses to wear from 'Wild Boys' yes he's wearing his band's t-shirt !!

"Manchester!!" he yells "It Is so Good To Be Back In This Room!!!!" the crowd go mad, along the left is 'John Taylor' he looks on proudly at the crowd, smiling the same smile that melted a million hearts all those years ago #Charisma next song that we sit up and take notice is 'Wild Boys', ahead of me the huge CGI screen,  featuring lasers and flames and the effect of the latex head of the Vampire central to the screen of course it featured throughout the original Russell Mulcahey video of 1984 now a Rock classic.

As if it couldn't get much better 'Hungry Like The Wolf', and the song after that was even more surprising not played live since 30 years back in 1985 'A View To A Kill' where 'Simon' lost his voice mid note on national and international TV during 'Live Aid' tonight he totally nailed every note and played with such passion it was a joy to hear it again of course people will remember it was 1985's Bond Theme, complete with Bondesque visuals it was a treat.

The tempo lowered for 'Come Undone' before one of my new album personal favourites 'Last Night In The City', then back to the 'Rock' again with 'White Lines' , and who could forget the 'Funktastic' 'Notorious' and I cant remember ever hearing them play (on shows I've attended anyway) 'I Don't Want Your Love' from 1988's underated 'Big Thing' now a classic ! Just awesome !!.

'Pressure Off' was superb live as expected, sadly no surprise appearance of 'Mr Nile Rodgers', great chorus I honestly haven't danced this much in ages I was on the last seat aisle-side so had plenty of dancing space, to make sure the band knew I was having a great time,I've always been a 'Durannie', up next 'Planet Earth' They are Killing it tonight !!

In the middle of 'Sunrise' a special reprised version of 'New Moon On Monday', wow this show is even better than the last ,they just keep getting better,I'm still up dancing haven't sat down and don't want to  .

I was surprised to hear 'Too Much Information' how I love that song it was also featured on my first 'Duran' show I'd seen in 1994 on 'Wedding album' tour I'm recalling it was rescheduled in Manchester then due to 'Simon's throat problems, lyrically the song has even more relevance now mentioning the News Media,Tv and Radio so relevant. 80's mode again and 'Girls On Film' and now for the encore and its moving very moving.

'Simon' talks about the 'Paris attacks' and musical freedom, it hits hard, I'm stationary and moved to tears, as he talks about when weeks before they were on a tv show 'TFI Friday'  with 1 member of 'Eagles Of Death Metal' and he guested on 'Save A Prayer', and now its being utilised for proceeds of downloads going to charity promoting peace.

Its a song I grew up with always a love song then but now a testament of a moment in history very deep (Duran Duran were actually leaving Paris on a flight back mere hours before it happened). A very potent song from 'Paper Gods' is the upbeat 'What Are The Chances?' and with an ending in style with 1982 classic 'Rio' it was a superb show, I personally think that everyone knows a 'Duran' song even if they don't know the band the songs have a life of their own, they didn't win a 'Q Icon Award' for nothing. they bow and take the applause like heroes My Heroes, My Duran Duran.

Part 2

So this is the part where I follow on the tour to 'Cardiff' but due to horrendous storm conditions I cancelled going as it was under a warning for 2 days,it was the hardest decision I had to make but the right one due to another important gig in 'London' I didn't want to risk being stuck miles from anyway and catch a cold.

We pick up now in the city of Liverpool, and tonight I'm front Of house in first row of front block, its also the last show on the tour for the U.K., 'Bloom Sisters' were there again but we have an addition tonight of 90's icon 'Seal'.

He didn't disappoint dressed in black with army boots,he kicks off with 90's hit 'Crazy' it was very popular then with great lyrics again more relevant than then) he speaks to the crowd and thanks 'Duran Duran' for letting him join this tour, on with the music and 'Killer' the debut he did with dance guru 'Adamski' on keyboards, the excitement builds for a new song more because 'Seal' climbs over the barrier and goes for a walk amongst the crowds singing with the audience its like 2 shows in one tonight !! he finishes passing me on the left, he was awesome live, and great getting the crowd warmed up "Ok Liverpool now were going to sing a lovesong sing along if you know the words" its the film Soundtrack to 'Batman Returns' sung by 'Seal' 'A Kiss From A Rose' begins we are all singing along to it what a great start!!!

9pm fast approaching us and some special guests are here tonight in the form of 'Family' they appear in front of the barrier as the band start, it was 'Simon's daughter 'Amber Le Bon' and one of 'Nick's relations a little girl wearing ear muffs with some of the crew, its a special show, setlist was the same, 'Amber' filmed us going crazy to 'White Lines' you could see how proud she is of her dad it must be a very rewarding experience to see so many people who know who your dad is and know every word of his songs.

'Simon' wanted to thank us with special speech he says "Its 30 years ago we started our careers in this band and we want to Thank you for sticking with us, if it wasn't for you guys we couldn't do any of this ,So Thank you",and he went on to say "This next song was released when everyone thought we were finished in 1993 it's called 'Ordinary World' ", the best bit in this has always been the soaring guitar solo originally done by 'Warren Cuccurillo' of 'Missing Persons' he was a member from 1986-2000 before Andy re-joined for short time.

Confetti rains down for the final segment of the show, What A show What a Band, and its not over yet as 'Seal' joins 'Simon' onstage for 'Save A Prayer', crowd were bouncing around to 'Rio', as the show ends I scurry along to edge of the barrier and shout over to 'Amber' for photo op, she comes over and I tell her "I just want to say that your dad got me into rock and roll (oh no cliché cliché )I just love him" she looked flattered smiled, I said "Well it was lovely meeting you"  and on that note another tour ended.

In what had been a really stressful  awful week I had the Best night since London a week ago, that lovely revelation of a tour report will be up soon ...

Editors Manchester Academy 22.10.2015

Editors Manchester Academy 22.10.2015

Firstly I apologise for the ridiculous delay in getting this blog out to you its a busy time for me now , so normal service resumes..

Its been 2 years since I last seen 'Birmingham's brooding Indie Scensters 'Editors', already at 3.30pm the soundcheck is sounding really very exciting I've had a sneak peak of whats on tonight's menu and it sounds really promising!!

At 7.30pm 'Glasgow' support band 'Twilight Sad' enter the stage, I was Impressed with at 'Truck Festival' last year , tonight they take to the stage more confident than their previous daytime slot, they are definitely a band that work better in the dark for the raw emotion and heart thumping anthems with uber serious singer 'James Graham' providing more drama than an episode of 'Jekyll & Hyde' and taking much of his rockstar tuition from the pages of 'Ian Curtis's Handbook Of Drama & Despair' beginning with 'Theres A Girl Round The Corner' from their debut album 'Nobody Wants To Be Here, But Nobody Wants To Leave' .

At times 'James' looks like he's left the oven on at home and he just realised it panicking and thumping at his head, thumping his chest in despair I became transfixed with the passion of the band, next song  I knew of was 'I Became A Prostitute' which he introduces as 'Prossy' if you like either 'Joy Division' or 'Glasvegas' you'll love 'Twilight Sad' it got the gig off to an atmospheric start.

9pm & the stage is set for the main band to begin, as 'Editors' walk on stage they are greeted with rapturous applause before they even begin the new single 'No Harm' taken from their brand new album 'In Dream' , Lead singer 'Tom' wears a crisp White Shirt and skinny black jeans he still has those trademark sideburns, the next track to be played for us was the amazing 'Sugar' from their last album 'Weight Of Your Love' and it 's sheer theatrical bonkers -ness from the start (Helllooo #JazzHands ha lol private joke...  you had to be there) a few new songs and the back to the no nonsense Indie as they do what they do best with tracks from their earlier albums notably 'Back Room', 'End Has A Start' and 'Blood' "All Sparks' getting the crowd bouncing now and 'End Has A Start prompting a singalong on the front rows followed by one of my fav all time #Editors album songs 'Eat Raw Meat=Blood Drool' you have to hear it to believe it and sounds just fantastic live.

'Tom' looks very humbled by the 'Manchester' welcome, 'Russell' the bands bass player is giving the front row the thumbs up (Its worth mentioning if you don't know that 'Tom' and 'Russell' are the only 2 original members of the 4, there have been line up changes in 2012 with the addition of 'Justin') . It's Piano time and 'Racing Rats' then a poigniant version of 'Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors' played by 'Tom' acoustically, for some of the more electic tracks 'Tom' at times gets into an alien insect mode contorting into different shapes, in fact he dances and moves like no one I know and you don't realise until you watch them on stage how captivating it all is.

Up next 'Munich' and Whoa !! the place is bouncing now, it still sounds amazing live like it did in 2005 when 'Editors' were taking  the NME crowd by storm, and now up to the Encore 'Papillion' with 'Tom' jumping up and down in front on the keyboard set above the amp #ItKicksLikeASleepTwitch!! the crowd go crazy bouncing in time to the synths, in a surprising decision not to end on that but instead finishing on 'Marching Orders' it was another successful show for the band to end their UK tour on !!, I have to say ,I never tire of their sound Editors are a band for Past,Present and Future from tonights performance 'Epic' Show, Superb Atmosphere, Great Crowd Tonight!

Til the next time with a blog including 2 special tour reports of 80's nostalgia and and Icon  hmm got you guessing now  :0)

Years And Years Liverpool 02 Academy 20.10.2015

Years & Years Liverpool 02 Academy 20.10.2015

It was June when I first caught this band live, they seem to be 2015's Act Of The Year as their music is everywhere and their name on everybody's lips, with 3 successful singles and hit debut album 'Communion', they've also just returned from a sellout debuting tour in the U.S.

Tonight in the 1'200 capacity venue in Liverpool it is baking Hot,it hits you as you walk through the doors  even more after 3 flights of stairs phew.. , support is from Oscar Cusa, its all a bit bland for me but the music passes the time, the next band "Shamir" are a fabulous contradiction a rhythmic disco band with flamboyant and quietly spoken male singer who puts me in mind of the Female Rookie cop in 'Police Academy', but when his band starts their set its a complete hit with me, very catchy songs , a funky disco group with a unique feel to their set, I've not witnessed before since watching ' Nile Rodgers & Chic ' back in the summer.

I feel like I'm in 'New York' in a smouldering Hot bar ,ceiling dripping and the music vibrant, it's not too long to wait for the main act 'Years & Years' as their set is revealed the keyboards with electro lights on and main lighting feature front stage its not too over blown on production and art direction, as they walk on its to a never more welcoming reception of a mainly teenage crowd with enthusiasm I've not seen since the Olympics.

Singer 'Olly Alexander' is the most unlikely of pop stars, he is like a shy teenager at a school assembly when picking up a certificate of merit, which is one of the traits that make him so endearing to his fans,he stands out at 6ft tall, in long shorts and Stussy Sports vest, freshly shaved blonde tipped hair, he looks like he's off to play a basketball game not headline his own gig.

Eyes closed to the wall of sound around him lights dimmed and spotlight on,  his hands are around the mic for 1st track 'Foundations', there is no frantic pushing from the crowd just dancing and swaying in supportive fashion, much of the sold out crowd singing back all of the words at 'Olly' , you can see in his expression he's overwhelmed, he has the "What The Fxxk Have I Created Look" on his face, genuine shock at the crowds reception to the band ,for a band at such an early stage in their career.

He then goes into next track 'Take Shelter' and one of my favs 'Desire' and he showcases the famous 'Olly'  'Shuffle and Grind' ("How low can you go" lol) we get more album tracks , and later we get hit song 'Shine' and then for one fan a magical moment, as 'Olly' asks this girl to get up on stage with him as he sings a song to her it's her birthday and she looks 15-16, she takes a seat nervously alongside  him hugs him and then... switches on her mobile to film it #SignOTheTimes ?

She sits in awe and then starts to.. what looks like texting to me, (I caught up with her after the show and she told me she wasn't texting she was trying to switch her phone on ready for a selfie but was nervous and shaky couldn't do it aw bless #Superfan) , 'Olly' didn't disappoint and helped take a selfie after the song he later invited more fans on stage to dance with him, during the set the surprise cover was 'Toxic' by 'Britney Spears' which really worked its a slower paced version than the pop classic .

They end with smash hit 'King' the track which got me here tonight, it raised the roof, and boy was it Hot still !! that all throughout the show Me and my mate had to throw ice cubes down our clothes it worked we were cooled lol, at one point 'Olly' came down from the stage to  walk along the front and in a hilarious mad moment my mate patted him on his head and he patted her back, people were grabbing at him everywhere and I decided I'll get him to shake my hand as I was distracting him he looked over in a funny expressive manner took my hand and shook it, it wasn't planned but nothing ever is #GoWithTheFlow, and well that is it 'Olly' humbly took a bow thanked us all waved and stood once again his hand covering mouth in total shock at the loud wall of noise from the crowd below he's so shy its almost cute #CatThatGotTheCream grin, and then they were gone.

Another excellent performance from 'Years & Years' as we leave its pouring down with rain and it hasn't rained much in what feels like #YearsAndYears #LongHotSummer til the show comes around not too long from now ....

Dannii Minogue -Manchester Pride Festival - Sunday 30th August 2015

Dannii Minogue-Manchester Pride Festival Sunday August 30th 2015

Today is a day like no other that I've done before,I've been to hundreds of gigs and countless festivals but this is different because I've never been to a LGBT event (that's Lesbian Gay, Bisexual Transgender to you) this festival is a big deal to their community and this year is the 25th Anniversary of Pride Manchester !!!

The biggest street party in Manchester's Gay Village it lasts for 4 Days,I'm here as they have a cracking little headliner to close Sunday nights entertainment she related to another little firecracker who I know well yes you guessed it.. sister of Kylie, Mistress of the X Factor, High Priestess of Fashion it is of course ..

Miss  Dannii Minogue !!!

For those who don't know anything about Miss Minogue's music career , here's the lowdown...

'Dannii' started her career when she was a child she joined 'Young Talent Time' and sang and danced her way to superstardom before sister 'Kylie' was a popstar , she then went on to 'The New Generation' a dance program like YTT for teenagers as she was 17,she also had her own fashion line for girls in Australia, she embarked her solo singing career in 1990 whilst also starring in 'Home & Away' where she met future husband 'Julian Mcmahon' following the success here in the U.K. of her debut album 'Love & Kisses' he was the son of an ex Australian female prime minister.

Instead of chirpy pop 'Dannii' was influenced by a US Dance vibe a totally different direction to sister Kylie, Dannii wanted a 'Chicago House Sound' like her idol 'Janet Jackson', although style wise she was always compared to 'Kylie' she chameleonised herself and placed herself in Gay Clubs of Australia and U.K. to play her material particularly after the release of 2nd album 'Get Into You' and single 'This Is It' .

Her impending divorce seen 'Dannii' change her image yet again and she now had breast enhancement surgery, and dyed her Black hair Blonde she looked more like Barbie, she was on TV shows presenting in the UK 'Big breakfast' 'Scoop' she went back to her dance root for 'Girl' '1997' and now she was every straight guy's fantasy posing in FHM , Maxim, Sky and other mags glamour based.

With Top 10 hit 'All I Wanna Do' she did a tour 'Unleashed 1998' this time in small public venues across the UK, It was then our paths crossed, not a lot of people know this but here we go.. I worked for 'Virgin Megastore' in a Cheshire store it was when her Tour came round to our area that I suggested to my boss "Why don't we get 'Dannii' in for a instore signing it'd be a buzz" she also had her glamour calendar out so it was a good PR stunt it had been arranged on October 8th and on the day it was packed the rafters with straight blokes queuing out the door clutching the risqué calendar, for me it was an opportunity to appreciate her for her music and talent as a dance artist and I took along a few things, I booked it as my day off and was no1 in the queue we were in the local paper (No I will not post a picture here anyway it was only small).

I remember I said to her randomly " I like your eyeshadow" she seemed really flattered ,and signed my stuff including a Huge 'Unleashed' poster, we had pics  with the instore team after the crowds had gone and she asked me if I had a ticket for her show tonight , I said I hadn't I thought it sold out ,she arranged for a ticket for me and some of the staff and we went she was fantastic she performed hits from 'Girl' and some covers 'Heart of Glass', 'Rhythm Of The Night' the staging and the Wardrobe was fantastic too she had a range of leather look outfits I wanted lol.  I certainly liked that image in the same way I looked up to 'Madonna' and 'Kylie' whom the press claimed she didn't get on with it was their fav story.

So in 2001 she continued down the club scene staying loyal, and I often written to her and she would reply and send signed postcards to me she even shouted me and my mum tickets for 'Notre Dame De Paris' at London's Dominion Theatre when a mothers day gift (for my mum) turned sour as 'Dannii' was replaced by an understudy we walked out and didn't watch it came home,  so I written to her and she was apologetic and promised she'd be at the next few shows we went, and we loved it, her voice was better than I heard in a long time, by the time 'Neon Nights' came out she was dating a F1 racing driver and becoming a bigger star on Music Tv she was a Mardi Gras Queen in Australia and there our contacted ended, she was now a Gay icon like Big Sister Kylie.

So all that said you know who your reading about now..

Fast Forward 14 years .......Now Sunday Entertainment at Pride began at 3pm with a gym class warm up from 'Pure Gym' and then a young male singer from 'Cardiff' 'Jonathon Haul' in black leather looking very metrosexual and well preened (No use getting too excited there ...) next act 'Dan Loops' played and acoustic guitar and was liked to 'Ed Sheeran' in vocals then it was the Shane Ritchie Jnr Band  (first thing I notice is gosh how much does he look like his dad) .

Manchester band 'Rival Joy' came on when uh uh trouble starting already.. there I was with my friends when this girl marches up pissed up to her eyeballs in pigtails and rainbow ribbons she pushes herself onto the barrier which was generally full of relaxed people now irrate , I leaned over to her and said 'Sorry you can't stay there my mates just gone to the loo we're minding his place' she turned her head she utters some garbled comment half reminding me of the 'Excorcist' and her teeth were so chipped and unsightly that I'm constantly playing back the 'Windowlicker' video through my head you know the bit where  'Aphex Twin' dressed as girl Grins well that's what it was like.. Horrifying !!!

He came back and a scuffle broke out next to me she wouldn't budge and my other friend and I didn't know what to do ,but eventually after 'Rival Joy' she left can of lager in hand waffling something I never understood missed them because of all that.. but I think they were ok ,I'd heard a song on the radio .

Next up was 'Stooshe' seen them before at 'Bingley Festival 2012' but this time they played some covers 'Waterfall's and 'Black Magic' 'Uptown Funk' , ended with 'Black Heart'  ,then it was 'Blackpools 'Little Boots' up next she came on stage and took to her keyboards dressed in an 'Atomic Kitten' t-shirt and  Silver White hotpants she sang 'Stuck on Repeat', 'New Kid In Town' 'Remedy' from her 'Hands' album from 2009 which I liked, she also played some new material next up was 'Atomic Kitten' well 2 of them...at the start 'Kerry' was looking stressed at the sound engineer as their earpieces weren't working they spent much singing time chatting and messing about and Kerry flirted with 'Liz Mclarnon' when they did sing they played  'Right Now', Eternal Flame', and 'Whole Again' bloody hell come on 'Dannii' is it time yet  ...

Oddly after 3 of the 'Corrie' cast took to the stage to introduce her Sean,Fizz, and Bev (Kirks wife) Anthony Cotton sat in front of me on the barriers ledge, luckily in no way obscuring my view but to the left I notice 'Gandolf' from 'Harry Potter'!!! I nudge my mate and tell her look who's in front of you she taps him on the shoulder and he manages 'Yes Hellooo'

She's on stage now ...'Dannii' beginning the end of show show !!!  Her female dancers in coloured latex look hoop skirts and her male dancers in sweat pants looking gym fit and 'Dannii' herself appears in Hot Pink glitter catsuit 'Success' booms out and she smiles arms up in the air shes dancing about the stage , hair in brown ponytail extension the song then goes into 'Love Fight' and then next is her new song 'Summer Of Love' and medley for which she changes outfit  into a Gold Gaultier inspired style basque and Black Tinsel shoulder garment to play 'Baby Love/Love & Kisses/This Is It /Put The Needle On it/ All I Wanna Do/ Who Do you Love Now she's then presented with a Huge bouquet of Flowers from the 'Pride' Organisers which she hands out to the crowd (well nearly ...she gets someone to hand out to us as she cant get down off the stage in those heels)

Just as we were up and excited she say's Thank you Goodnight and walks off the stage ...Gobsmacked I look at my mate and say loudly "Is That Is That IT!!, Where's the 'Encore' has she gone !!??" yes I thought 'This Is It' and Sunday's entertainment was over if she come's back in the Music industry she needs to play longer, the headliner should play at least an hour not just under 30 minutes ...We need more 'Dannii' much more ,good to have her back she has a lot of catching up to do, I was Lucky to get a flower from the bouquet and with that feeling like I'd just been in an 15 hr reality tv program, and feeling absolutely steamrollered from the whole thing! I left to get the late bus home til the next blog where normal service resumes in Winter, enjoy the rest of the Summer Of Love !!!

British Summertime Hyde Park London 21.06.2015- Day 3 Kylie Minogue/Grace Jones/Nile Rodgers & Chic/Mika/Years & Years

British Summertime- Hyde Park London 21.06.2015

DAY 3

Kylie Minogue/Grace Jones/Nile Rodgers & Chic/Mika and The Years & Years

Its Saturday it's not exactly bursting with sunshine, but I'm here ready for Sunday's show.

Early Sunday morning I get ready to leave my hotel at 7.15am to meet up with one of the #KylieMassive and later the whole gang, I decide to walk to whole length of Bayswater Road (Bad Idea it took me 30 minutes to get to Marble Arch #knackered its the equivelant of 10 highstreets in 1).

My Mate catches up to me at 'Hyde Park Corner' so we stroll around looking for the Early Entry queue, the right gate, on our way we see lots of squirrels, its beautiful they stop to look at us so tame so it's good 10 minutes before I remember I'm not at the zoo.

We hang out around the gates chatting and eating til gates open at 12pm, when security arrive they tell us not to run when we go through (the usual patter "There's plenty of room at the barriers for everyone to see.." yardy ya but when some don't take that advice everyone starts running so you have to stress out about these things its not simple its about stratergy) so I get athletes stress lol.

Lots of my friends are here today and few other gig buddies so it's a good vibe more relaxed than the normal Rock gig,me and my mate got a great spot on the left barriers at front of stage.

First act on is 'Londoner' 'Secana Hudson' a young vibrant girl in red sports top, playing keyboards and drum machine, its basically R&B but chilled dance beats,I particularly liked her 'Madonna' tribute when she sang a mash up of 'Pure Shores' by 'All Saints' into an interpretation called 'Frozen-Shores', I  think I was 1 of the loudest cheerers at that point ha.

Next up London's successful band of this year ' Years & Years' a bunch of 3 young guys with singer 'Ollie Alexander' sporting Bleached Blonde hair, they kick things off with 'Desire' it's a bouncy dance beat classic with a great 90's fresh feel to it, the sun is out summer is here at last , perfect atmosphere, 'Years & Years' doing a perfect job onstage with a 'Blu Cantrell' cover and new song 'Gold', 'Ollie' bounces around the 'Oak Stage' dancing and looking like the cat that got the cream.

The energy they give out when performing live is infectious, the crowd enjoying them, everyone is talking to each other its relaxed not like your usual gig, The band ended with No1 single 'King' it was great to watch their enthusiastic set I see big things for them already, Top Notch!!

Next 'Mika' I really have to tell you he annoyed me, I always thought he was a bad pop tribute act of 'Freddie Mercury Vs Matt Bellamy', so everytime he hit a falsetto I just wanted to ring his neck! He wore a Navy Blue suit with Stars and Shapes on it, his 7ft frame flailing about like a daddy long legs refusing to stop flight (did I tell you I hate them too ...yuck) or perhaps it would be more polite to say that he looked like a childrens TV Presenter which appeared to be his act in a nutshell.

He kicks off with 'Grace Kelly' then says "Hello Hyde Park, The sun is shining on us (puts hands together in pray mode)" and then plays on with 'Big Girls You Are Beautiful' (Cringe #Muser in need of rescue here have Mercy lol), he stands atop a piano and plays a new song he has a new album to plug, it was then back to the chart hits 'Take It Easy' another high pitched falsetto I'm itching to yell "Get Off your not 'Musey' enough for that Voice !! I held back.. just the end song was 'Love Today' the most irritating song ever written, its the first time all day I've frowned a lot #Headache,  Then he goes off waving I Cheer phew....

Finally my excitement is back on par, onstage whilst the crew are sound checking, on walks the legendary 'Nile Rodgers' to the 'Oak Stage', he's standing in front of us waving, smiling in a White Suit "How you all doin' ? were just getting these amps set we'll be ready soon" we all cheer.

Wow!  'Nile Rodgers' producer of some of finest disco classics of the late 70's and 80's legends, in his reportiore  responsible for Madonna's Like A Virgin album, Duran Duran's Notorious, I'm excited as the 2 girls of 'Chic' walk on they play 'Dance Dance Dance' and some great covers of his work 'Sister Sledge' 'We Are Family', 'Diana Ross' 'Upside Down', here's what sealed the deal for me 'Notorious' by 'Duran Duran' and 'Daft Punk's Get Lucky, as 'Nile' walks down the walkway, his shades on he cuts a cool image up on the walkway, the place is jumpin!!  I've not danced so freely at gig since 'Prince' last year , he even gets his band to play 'Lets Dance' by 'Bowie' yes he produced that too, there's a real party atmosphere now .

They play my absolute fav 'Le freak' so funky and groovy,my god what a show, just when you think I cant get better than that, all these people come onto the stage dancing with Chic and 'Nile Rodgers' for 'Good Times' then 'Sam Smith' walks on greeting 'Nile' and hugging him before joining everybody dancing and then this older guy wearing a leather jacket and cap doing a crazy dance and it's shock horror only 'The Edge' from U2 I had to pinch myself.

I almost cried with joy what a ride that was but I'm coming down as I'm not sure what to expect with the next act enter One ... 'Grace Jones', shes always been a bit of a strange cookie very Avant-Garde and a diva, she started her career as model actress in James Bond Movies with a musical career in the 80's with equally visual bizarre stage image to match her personality so I'm unaware what to expect and it's not at all what I expected !!!

She arrives onstage in a Gold Mask and Long Black Gown , she takes off the gown and with Body paint up her legs, and a beige tunic (at least she's wearing something thank goodness), she wraps her legs in a criss cross motion over and under the metal bar constructed bent into a shape ,she continues with this bizarre ritual singing 'Nightclubbing' with her deep terrifying tones and staring eyes she wanders off stage speaking to us in an even deeper voice "Yeah Man ,how many you been to Jamaica?? GRRR Yeah Man!!!.

  I

She appears with out a shirt body paint her chest painted in White tribal marks leaving not a lot to the imagination and what looks like a tutu on her head and flowing netted skirt banging a small tambourine, the crowd many quite young look on puzzled, she also had a guy with body paint climbing a greasy pole whilst whipping at him with a tribal like whip the theme here is 'Tribal' but a bit wacky of course, she waves her whip at the crowd as she comes down the walkway.

She then continues talking to us Growling  my god she's loud ,as she changes offstage it appears that the staff want her to cover up as she wears a Jacket with sparkly Green bowler hat, another change later she wears a tall white head-dress and as she goes to walk on jacket-less ...staff throw on a Green fur jacket she tries to pull it off, but they insist she plays 'Pull Up To The Bumper' and rolls off ungracefully off the walkway to jump on security's shoulders (I had to watch this on the screen it was all going on behind us what a palaver)  anything to meet her public at the back rows ,and its Bonkers Time!!

Another change later the highlight for me was 'Slave To The Rhythm' on the main stage she brings on a hula hoop "I Been doing this since I was a little girl" she laughs and keeps the hula hoop going through the whole song very impressive perhaps how she keeps so fit power to her shes in her 60's !! Puzzled by it all we cheer she put a interesting show shall we say.

 Kylie Time !!!

It's still light at 8.30pm, the famous KMO lips are on stage, Kylie's backing singers arrive in Huge White Bows on their chests, dressed in Black , she emerges from the side of the lips in a Royal Gown and Crown dressed like a Queen erm er I mean.. Princess, theres only 1 Queen etc...,

It's 'Better The Devil You Know" the crowd go wild, bouncing and screaming "We Love You Kylie!!"  the gown comes off  a new stage outfit underneath a little frilly Black dress  and sandals with Roses at the toes ,she has the letters of her name on stage in Glass shapes that dancer move around so she goes all cheerleader on us "Gimme a K, (K) Gimme a Y (Y) Gimme a L (L) Gimme a  I (I) Gimme a E (E) what does it Spell (Everyone "Kylie !!!") she smiles back at us and walks over to the steps "Hyde Park.. London ,You all look so Wow!! she sashays down the walkway wiggling as she goes she plays the hit song to the full, packed with screaming fans she goes into 'In My Arms' and surprisingly my fav Fever song not heard live in ages ' Its In Your Eyes'.

Change of scene now 3 central Disco Balls glimmer atop the stage as 'Kylie' re-appears in Glittery Red dress and Red Beaded thigh high boots with a cute black tie,her hair is blonder than usual, then she plays a whole section on the walkway from the KMO Tour with dancers as toy shapes its the same setlist so I don't need to tell you about this bit much in the medley 'Step Back In Time/Spinning Around/Your Disco Needs You/On a Night Like This, and then 'slow' with the amazing flipback male dancer on the tour.

It was back to the main stage for a superb live version of 'Bette Davis Eyes' and back again to pop dance 'Kylie ' for 'Cant Get You Out Of My Head' followed by an audience singalong of 'Neighbours Theme' there was no doubt who everyone came to see, she then did a 'Grace' by going round the shoulders of a security bloke she greets her crowd sadly for me its the back again getting all the special treatment, she sings an accapella of 'I Should Be So Lucky', then a bit of 'Locomotion' before another costume change.

Into a lovely Satin Gold Catsuit for 'Get Outta My Way' and 'Love At First Sight'  her dancers dressed a bit like flamboyant suited wrestlers or a tribute to 'Pussy Riot' it looked great onstage she played a superb version of 'Celebration' and 'All The Lovers' .

Encore time....   Another change of outfit Bodysuit White shirt and Black jacket, Black thigh high boots, she wanders over to the side of the 'Oak Stage' in front of me and sings 'Into The Blue', crowd are loving the show and it's all over... time for 'Goodnight' the KMO reunion a success as I say good night to everyone.

I  leave bound for my hotel getting ride home on Bike Tandem Carriage from outside the gates with music blasting from the speakers playing ...'Bitch I'm Madonna' and with onlookers looking baffled and me doing all the actions in back carriage...  I head off through Notting Hill, Goodnight London.

*Galleries will be up soon and Kylie Gallery up separately also
