Royal Blood Leeds FD Arena w/ Black Honey & At The Drive In 17.11. 2017

Royal Blood How Did We Get So Dark Tour

Black Honey & At The Drive In

Leeds FD Arena

17.11.2017

It's been almost 3 years since I seen this band play live it was in 'Manchester', since then they've done a lot of globe trotting in arenas no less!!

But now back in the U.K. for a huge tour ,they've arrived  in 'Leeds' with a great set of support acts 'Black Honey' and Old Skool -Nu Metal Alternative combo 'At The Drive In' , As we arrive into arena there's a walkway  down the middle, which you'd think at first glance Hmm that's a bit ambitious for a duo ,its not as you'll find out.

First act on stage is 'Black Honey' last seen in 'Liverpool' with 'White Lies' they've already played a handful of dates on this tour and are getting more fans from their edgy rock set, Tonight singer 'Izzy Baxter ' is wearing a Yellow T-shirt and Red Bandana. They seemed to of developed more confidence on stage by that I mean Professional able to handle a Big Crowd.

The Next band were Huge 'Rock Alternative' band from the U.S. 'At The Drive In' at the peak of their fame they were a favourite of 'Muse's as they used to play the album along with 'Rage Against The Machine's in the dressing room and at afterparties in the venues, so I'm hoping they play 'One Armed Scissor', its gonna take me back to those days.

As the band take to the stage..its loud very loud, they have a new album out,the singer has got some insane moves across the stage, leaping off the speakers, dragging himself across the floor with his "Big Frizzy Hair Do" and dressed all in black, the guitarist on the left hasn't changed much either he still looks young and slim as when the band formed.

Some fans were not even in School when 'Kerrang' endorsed their crazy live shows so look a bit bemused at the spectacle playing out on the stage,I however am in 'Awe' its crazy as they finally close the set with 'One Armed Scissor' how could they not ?? I'm moshing along for that one.

At 8.45pm the stage is set, 'Ben's drums to the right of me, complete with a gong, and a tiger head head on front of the Bass drum,As they take to the stage 'Mike' on bass and some female backing vocalists join 'Ben', above Ben' theres a huge diamond shaped screen that films the band on stage.

They Kicks things off with 'Lights Out' , 1 song in already 'Mike' makes use of the walkway wearing his fave slogan Tiger shirt, as he plugs away at the bass getting the crowd going, the right hand side are doing well already jumping up and down.

Next track 'Where Are You' and then back to the debut album 'Out Of The Black' for 'Come On Over' now the whole place is bouncing, following it up with 'How Can You Be So Cruel'.  The brotherly bond between 'Ben' and 'Mike' is so sweet, they respect each other that even though we cant always hear the banter on stage it's easy to see how they work so well .

A highlight from the new album tonight is 'I Only Lie When I Love You' which gives the vocalists on stage a chance to shine,'Little Monster' is another highlight tonight, each track hits the crowd full pelt one after the other such a wall of sound this band are that now you see where that walkway comes in .

'Hole In Your Heart' see's 'Mike' at the edge of the walkway playing keyboards, the first part of the set closed almost perfectly if it was'nt for the idiot who threw a trainer shoe at 'Mike' that hit him square on the right arm, he played through but Swore after and gave the crowd an icy stare they very gladly pointed out the perpetrater, it just so happened it was on my side I witnessed the shoe as it flew past me , we were lucky 'Mike' didn't leave I felt that.  Encore time and saving the best til last with 'Figure It out.

There was a competiton on the walkway which side is the loudest , Ben didn't do his trademark crowd surf as there was not enough people to hold him ,'Ten Tonne Skeleton' another highlight the whole show is amazing that it's a pity I didnt book more shows on the tour but only just managed to squeeze this in so couldn't.

They ended with 'Out of The Black' and that's it 'Mike' waves and 'Ben' takes the crowd applause from the walkway and they both walk down to Thank Everyone, What a show though !!
