I Know it was only this year I seen these guys in their February Show,but I really couldn't resist round 2 , they are one of the most entertaining Rock Bands I've ever seen. 

 

Support band tonight is 'Rancid' an Old Skool punk band from the U.S.A., this is the band that inspired 'Green Day' themselves to become a Punk band. They look scary at first with one member 'Wolfgang' has a symbol tattooed on his forehead, they actually were more Old skool punk not as loud 'Metal' as they presented in image,the crowd don't really move as much sing to some of the lyrics, they ended with 'Ruby Soho'.

 

It isn't until after the rousing introduction of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and intro of 'Ramones' the famous big bunny gets on stage,and proceeds to dance and throw pink bunnies into the crowd,we all know the bunny is in fact the bands charismatic drummer 'Tre Cool',then 'Billie Joe' and 'Mike Dirnt' arrive to start the party as the bunny was dragged off stage hehehe. 

 

You can feel the energy off the band and the crowd as they tear through 25 years of classics,beginning with 'Know Your Enemy' and 'Bang Bang' from the 'Revolution Radio' album dressed in black 'Billie Joe' jumps about the amps like a leprechaun,and down the runway to pick fans to join him on stage to crowdsurf and to sing with him, one lucky girl gets to keep his guitar if she can play all the chords, later on the crowd get water sprayed with a hand held hose I'm only just out of range and have to duck, free tshirts are shot out of nerf guns to lucky fans.

 

 

There is a comical moment where 'Billie Joe' looks stunned and confused he stops what he's doing transfixed on the crowd he shouts down the mic "Whats that ?? you calling me a cock sucker !!?? he looks around everyone shouts again as he walks over to the crowd getting an explanation "Its Yorkshire you're in Yorkshire" we chant again "Yorkshire Yorkshire" he laughs look relieved he shouts "Oh Yorkshire Haha Come On Sheffield Yorkshire"!!.

 

 

 

 

During the second half of the show we get "Welcome To Paradise' and 'Billie Joe' forgets the last verse and chorus, he 's changed wardrobe and is now wearing  custom made 'Blue Denim' cut off jacket featuring a Green Day Revolution Radio Patch on his back ,he changes guitar again  not for the first time I've counted 3 or 4 already the fireworks are loud and hotter than when I was in Manchester but I was not as near to the main stage and I'm front on to it my face is melting last time I felt that hot in a gig was 'Muse's 'Unsustainable Tour in 2013 right at the beginning of 'Supremacy'. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Its then time for the Acoustic encore featuring  '21 Guns' and 'Time Of Your Life' to take us to a second encore more flamethrowers and fireworks for 'American Idiot', the crowd are a lively bunch and some fans  were a bit crushed and dehydrated , even before the show a girl almost flaked out on my shoulder I had to get security to get her some water, so those that don't make it to the end are plucked to safety,I'm more than a little squashed but quite happy to enjoy the show, This morning I even managed a Big Breakfast before the gig,something I don't normally do on gig days.

 

 

 

After the show, I was fortunate to get high five off 'Billie Joe' after waiting outside the gates he bounds over with his black hoody up, the others were having a barbeque in the car park, 'Billie Joe' however came over and thanked us for coming to the show, it was something I hoped for in Manchester but he couldn't reach my hand from the walkway as close as he was, so good things come to those who wait.
