Baba Naga Eagle Inn Salford Manchester 27th January 2018

Baba Naga Eagle Inn

Salford Manchester

27.01.2018

Tonight is a small capacity but 'Sold Out' show from an Influencial Prog Rock instrumentalist band,I first discovered in 'October' last year whilst they were supporting 'The Horrors', I was awestruck at the riffs and was not expecting that genre of music at all.

Support comes from 'Crossa Rosa'  and 'Mister Strange' in the small capacity 80-100 back room with small balcony atop a room that was clearly on an upper floor once judging by the embedded fireplace over in the left wall near the stage.

There are no barriers and the stage set low so that the bands simply walk between the crowd and step on plugging in equipment ,not many at all yet are present at 8pm.

'Crossa Rosa' come on to the stage, on guitar and vocals male fairly youthful looking singer with a Maroon dyed hair style worn long and 'Grungy',with 'Converse' trainers ,ripped jeans reminiscent of early era 'Kurt Cobain'.

Their sound is very much in that vein, an exciting moment from their drummer as his drumstick thrown up in the air lands on a ledge behind him and fall's back down seconds later ..'Timing', the room is filling up for next act 'Mister Strange' a little bit 70's instrumental in style, with a guitarist giving some distortion on the pedals just over the way near to the drummers kit.

Some mistakes were made it didn't go as planned and these were laughed off as they ended their set, packing away the gear he had stickers of 'Kasabian' adorning the carry case, and a random sponge pointy finger mascot with Kasabian logo on it I was in the hysterics I guessed he was a fan he looks up he laughs as we watch "I'm a big fan" I point at my wristband and say "So Am I", then the stage is ready for the main act.

9.45pm The screens for the projections are set up at the back, the 3 guys from 'Baba Naga' arrive on stage, set up and away we go, with a series of tracks off 2 of their EPs and apparently some as yet untitled ones as I don't have the names of them, one track in particular sounds a bit 'Showbiz' which is what drawn me in due to their multitalented guitarist who tells me he's influenced by Hendrix and the Blues, their music is full of riffs, bass and rhythmic thunderbolt drums it's like being in a psychedelic holy worship.

The screens behind are displayed with various prisms of psychedelic light shows with more than a nod to early 'Pink Floyd' it's mesmerising to watch !!

If you love your "Riffs" are fan of 'Led Zepplin', 'Muse' or any of the above, go to see this band they are monumental.

At the moment the band are not touring the country, but are currently putting down tracks that could take shape as their first album.Catch them when they come back .
