Kylie Minogue Golden UK Tour 2018
Kylie Minogue -Golden UK Tour
2018 Report
Nottingham,Manchester,Liverpool,Leeds
It's the beginning of the Tour for me starting here in 'Nottingham',I've been planning this tour for months and I also ran a fan group on Facebook to help fans through the stressful process of Ticket Stress and the world of gigging, so they could meet up and discuss their plans, its gone well.
Now it's almost curtain up time as I arrive with my case in wind swept 'Nottingham' delayed due to storm #Ali it didn't as much affect me as my friends travelling up from 'Newcastle' I was about an hour late they were travelling from all morning to late afternoon, tomorrow's show the first of 4 for me.
Day of the show and not many early queuers the rain is Heavy and so many who are numbered wander off shopping and to keep out of the rain so no one stresses about their places Tonight the Doors Open at 6.30pm and I go through with some friends to get a good spot at the stage some decide to go round the catwalk G.
3 DJs warm up the crowd called 'Sonic Yootha' despite the no support claim they are put on the main stage to get the fans ready to party, getting an atmosphere going spinning tunes from the likes of 'George Michael', 'Madonna', 'Bananarama' , 'Donna Summer' yes quite a few from the 'Hit Factory'.
'Kylie' is on stage at 8pm prompt, the 'Golden' glittered covered stage awaiting it's princess's arrival, with her dancers as 'Cowboys' strutting on the stage in denim and cowboy style stiched shirts, Hats,Boots, they stare out ... moodily walk down the catwalk as 'Golden' the No1 album's title track kicks in, and there is our 'Kylie' Perched on the suitcases all in the pink flowing chiffon, her hair worn down with designer White leather cowgirl boots featuring flower detail it's like they were made for her. She ventures up the catwalk to greet her adoring fans, who are screaming for attention ,a smile a twinkle of her eye anything they can get!!
She Beams at the sight of the crowd and I swear a couple of times she mistakenly said "Hello Birmingham" must be the year for this , "Are you ready to party?" the crowd scream it's the only time you'll probably hear over 10,000 not all... but vast majority of men screaming with delight.
Next up is "Get Out Of My Way" from 'Aphrodite' she re-joins the dancers back down the catwalk, this time joined by her female dancers and the wild west dessert theme continues as she readies the crowd for nostalgia with 'Better The Devil You Know' a crowd pleaser and fan favourite from the 90's era on the 'Stock Aitken And Waterman' label PWL her choreography and steps are in time with all the hi energy it's 'Feel Good' Music and so we end the 1st section of the show on a massive high ....what else has she got up her sleeve.

As she disappears under the stage a large screen displays Miss Minogue in the 'High & Dry' bar,all in White with a black tie ribbon adorning her crisp white shirt and hat she's singing 'Blue Velvet' in harmony while clutching a rose, until she appears for real on the main stage again in dramatic mode and she begins 'Confide In Me' this is proof for any one that says 'Kylie' cant sing live that she can and she can hit those high notes one for the doubters then, this is followed by 'I Believe In You' she uses the main stage and catwalk to effect and later a treat for a lucky fan as 'Kylie' randomly picks someone in the crowd for a special request spot more on that later on.

'Kylie' sits on the main stage now with her team of dancers by a pool table, as she drinks from a shot glass (reminding me if only subtley of Rebel Heart Tour 2015 before M' Sings True Blue with the ukelele), as 'Kylie' sings 'A Lifetime To Repair' her dancers doing their best 'Hootin Tootin' line dancing routine but making it accessible and relevant to the current pop ethic, she indeed exhudes the energy of a firecracker and at 50 shows no sign of slowing down, the crowd is pumped.
'Kylie' makes a quick change during the last few moments of the song and she re-appears sat on a chair, In denim trousers and Gold Frilly Blouse top, wanting to tell us a story about how the next song was inspired by her dads 68 Shelby car and how he said to his daughter it's not a 'Shelby 68' and 'Kylie' telling him it's too late as its already on the album now , and slow moment on the album with 'Radio On'.
One of 'Kylie's dancers on stage begins twitching about and running around with a knapsack with a polaroid camera snapping pictures of Kylie performing during 'Wow' and 'Cant Get You Out Of My Head' giving away prints to the unsuspecting crowd this version of the No1 hit came with a nod to 'Fleetwood Mac's 'Chains' finishing with 'Kylie' in Denim jacket placed around her shoulders, of the venue name emblazoned across the back , and with a phone ringing on stage .

We have an Interval ....strange for a gig but nevertheless there's music in the background in the form of 'Dolly Parton' and and American Hero theme, til 'Kylie' stuns even further as the smoke/dry ice billows from the top walkway there are bikers on the stage all in leather and with motorbikes,Kylie' is all in Black leather owning that look as she slowly moves across the stage to 'Slow' it's fascinating to watch her in this new look, then she's joined by her backing singers and a guitarist for 'Kids' as she ends the song taking off her leather jacket she begins from 'X' 'The One' revealing a t-shirt with 'Lovers United' emblazoned on the chest like her Biker Boys Jackets ready for another energetic country tinged performance with 'Stop Me From Falling' .

She reappears in black cami dress with red check shirt wrapped around her waist singing 'Wouldn't Change A Thing' and with her Biker Dancer moustachioed man 'Anders Neilson' the chemistry is as good if not better than her 'Jason' duet for 'Especially For You',during the 'Leeds' show we were treated to a rendition of 'Neighbours' and I wasn't aware she was then struggling with her voice but she pulls it back again saying "Are you ready for your song ,Thank you for getting me through tonight this is for you" as 'All The Lovers' begins she fights through the song to deliver a spectacular performance and multi-coloured confetti closes that section, it must be mentioned that she uses lasers lots of them to effect.

The next theme a more familiar one perhaps for Ms Minogue the 'Studio 54' Party... Disco, 'Kylie' in golden glittery dress slit at the thigh with her dancers as she sings a new track 'New York City' which is combined with 'Raining Glitter' cue Gold Glitter then and even more Gold streamers during 'On A Night Like This' during the 'Manchester' show she recognises again how many times she played here 35 times !!, then it's into formation with harmonies of 'Toot Toot Beep Beep' for 'The Locomotion' bringing it round for 'Spinning Around'.
The final Encore then now of 'Kylie' at Pearl Hotel sees 'Kylie' in Green Glittery playsuit and thigh high boots when she shrugs off an embroidered sleeveless coat, She Thank's everyone for making 'Golden' a number 1 album in the UK and ends with 'Dancing' looking emotional and kissing her hand and then kneeling smacking it down on the floor, getting up waving shes gone, dissappearing behind the swing doors for the last time.

My 'Golden' moment literally came in 'Liverpool' when 'Kylie' noticed my t-shirt at catwalk end (Of the Impossible Princess Cover ) and I got a Rose, on noticing my face she gasped "ah you got an awful lot of glitter you've got more glitter than me" she asked me my name and spoke it asked me where I was from my northern accent must've thrown her, as she said "She's from somewhere she's not from Liverpool but we all end up here don't we", she's kneeling looking right at me not even a foot away and she sings 'Where The Wild Roses Grow' Verse which I found myself singing back to her as I clutched the rose it was like a dream or out of body experience , I've met her twice briefly but this was on another level it went quiet time stopped.
'Kylie' is one of those unique performers with friendly charm and charisma but at the same time star quality, she can make you feel at ease in her company when she engages with you either on stage or in person but that night was certainly enchanting !!.
